The Methodist Church is a mainstream Christian Church.

It was started by John Wesley over two hundred years ago and was specifically aimed at being a church for ordinary people where all are welcome.   It is designed to be non-hierarchical with members of the church having a role in leading the church.

The Methodist approach is to apply critical thinking to reflections on the Bible and on the experience of life and through this to grow in wisdom and maturity and to encounter the mysteries of life and engagement is sought with God.  There is an explicit commitment to social justice.   The church recognises the value in community and in meeting together to support and learn from each other.
